Childbirth is a rigorous process that will injure and harm your body. You will, therefore, have to eat well after giving birth so as to build up your health and energy levels. New mothers can get overwhelmed as they try to ensure that their babies are eating well only toforget that they should eat properly as well. - Get enough sleep.
Your baby will be waking up at unusual hours and this will, more often than not, interfere with your sleeping time. Lack of sleep will make it difficult for you to function the next day. This will, in turn,affect your ability to discharge your duties and to take care of your baby. Since your sleep time depends on your baby, you need to come up with a schedule whereby you will be asleep when your baby is sleeping and vice versa. To develop such a schedule, you will have to observe your baby for a while to determine his or her sleeping behavior. Your husband can also help you with this. Come up with an arrangement with your husband whereby you take turns for the night time baby duties.
- Get immunized.
It’s not just your baby who needs immunization, you do as well. Head to your nearestclinic and get shots for ailments such as flu. Flu can be easily be passed over to another person and you may end up passing it to your baby if you are not careful. So if you are not doing it for yourself, then do it for your baby. You will not pay for the shots at most public facilities, so make an effort to get immunized as soon as possible. Being sick will also wear you out and this will affect your ability to take care of your baby.
You need to exercise regularly to keep fit. Exercise gets your heart pumping and this promotes cardiovascular health. It also keeps you active and awake during the day. Exercise is also a great stress reliever and whenever you feel stressed, the best cure would be to go for a walk. Raising kids is overwhelming and if you are not careful, your stress levels could rise to alarming levels.
